How to use instant Temperature Converter

Enter the value you want to convert in the box above, and then select the temperature scale: celsius, fahrenheit, kelvin or rankine.
Press convert and that value will be converted in all other temperature scales. For example if you enter a temperature value in fahrenheit,
you will see the result of Fahrenheit to Celsius temperature conversion, Fahrenheit to Kelvin and Fahrenheit to Rankine.

Why there is no universal temperature scale?

The temperature is the same, but the value is different depending on the temperature scale used. Different scales are used for math purposes,
where some key points, for example boiling and freezing points of water are designated as the key number marks,
marking 0 degrees Celsius as a point at which the water freezes, and 100 degrees Celsius as a point at which water boils.
You can compare how different temperature scales change for common substances here: temperature scales table .

Think about the time you save, and how easy it can be to compare temperatures across different temperature scales.

Higher than Normal Urban Temperatures Threaten the Environment

A phenomenon of having higher than normal outside air temperatures in the city, as opposed to temperatures in the suburban areas is known as urban heat island effect. It is a common problem affecting large cities with densely built downtown areas. Higher temperatures occur due to a solar heat absorption by the walls, and a roof top of urban buildings. The solar heat absorbed by the buldings is then re-emitted back into the surrounding environment, thereby producing the so-called "Urban Heat Island Effect". The main issue with the urban heat island effect, is that it creates discomfort for the city dwellers, and contributes to an overly excessive AC load, which is necessary to keep up with cooling of the overheated buildings. This leads to a higher than normal grid load during peak hours, which contributes to energy waste, and environmental polution.

Urban Heat Island Prevention Methods

Some of the ways to prevent or reduce the urban heat island effect include the following: use of cool roofing systems, installation of solar energy collectors for residential and commercial buildings inlcuding solar hot water systems, and photovoltaic solar panels and passive solar systems. Green roof gardens present another option to help keep buildings cool and comfortable in the summer, and help reduce a building's carbon footprint thereby contributing towards cleaner air and healthier environment. Another cost efficient and practical way to have more energy efficient and greener buildings, is to employ modular buildings in place of traditionally constructed buildings for schools, offices, and commercial buildings. Any combination of these eco-friendly building construction measures can help mitigate the urban heat island effect.

What Does a Term "Green Roofing" Really Entail?

Green Roofing is a term used to describe green rooftops that help green-up and insulate a rooftop of a building, and help reduce energy costs associated with cooling the building in the summer. Eco friendly, sustainable roofing systems, metal roofing, and cool flat roofs are also considered green roofing systems.

Why Metal Roofing?

modern metal roof

Modern residential metal roofing systems can play a major role in helping reduce a solar radiant heat conduction through the roof into your home. This is especially true of places known for their extreme climatic conditions, and abrupt temperature changes. For instance, if you happen to live in one of the southern states like Texas, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, or New Mexico, you are probably quite familiar with rapid temperature changes resulting in an extreme heat during the day, followed by a thermal shock, a rapid temperature change occuring at sunsets. These termal shocks can be severe enough to cause tears and cracks in asphalt shingles, which is especially common in dessert-like climates.

CoolRoof rated metal roofs are well suited for absorbing solar thermal shocks / rapid temperature changes which can tear up conventional asphalt shingles on your roof. A solar refective and EnergyStar rated metal roof will help your home withstand extreme cold and heat conditions inlcuding rapid temperature changes due to solar thermal shocks. Metal Roofing will also help reduce solar thermal heat gain in your home in the summer.

How Does It Work?

Consider that metal roofing reflects well over sixty percent of solar thermal radiation, which can result in a significant reduction on your home cooling costs. Savings on cooling costs within the range of 20% to 40% can be expected from the installation of a cool metal roof on your home.

Further significant reductions on your heating and cooling costs, and overall improvement in a carbon footprint of your home can be obtained by performing a whole home energy audit in order to identify and correct places in your home where energy losses occur.
