Higher than Normal Urban Temperatures Threaten the Environment
A phenomenon of having higher than normal outside air temperatures in the city, as opposed to temperatures in the suburban areas is known as urban heat island effect. It is a common problem affecting large cities with densely built downtown areas. Higher temperatures occur due to a solar heat absorption by the walls, and a roof top of urban buildings.
