There are two types of standing-seam metal roofs; architectural and structural. The architectural standing seam metal roof is intended for residential and light commercial applications. They do not require a solid substrate and can be installed over the metal frame. Metal shingles roof is a less expensive alternative. Metal shingles are pre-manufactured in standard size panels, which reduces its cost. While some metal shingles roofs are available from dealers only, there are others systems that anybody can buy through a roofing supplier. Metal shingles roof is appropriate for homes where the traditional look of shingle is preferred.
Although, metal roofs costs more than asphalt shingles, it may be worth it to pay higher metal roofing prices for a system that will provide many years of reliable service and energy savings.
